Simply add the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filter set to your Berkey Water Filter. With the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filters the following undesirable elements are easily filtered out of your drinking water:

• Other remaining heavy metal ions
• DBCP (Dibromochloropropane)
• THM (trihalomethanes)
• Herbicides & pesticides

The number of PF-2 fluoride filters must always be the same as the number of Black Berkey water filters. 2 PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filters are good for filtering 3,785 liters of water, or for 1 year. The throughput capacity of the Black Berkey water filter elements is reduced by approximately 20 % when the PF-2 Fluoride filters are in use. It, therefore, takes just a little longer to filter the same amount of water. The Berkey PF-2 Fluoride filters are more powerful than any other gravity-powered filter elements available on the market. The Berkey PF-2 Fluoride filters have been specially developed to filter out the four most frequently-found contaminants in drinking water: Fluoride, Lead, Arsenic, and MTBE (methyl tertiary butyl ether). Due to their unique structure, the filter elements purify the water extremely well.

• Using a light washing-up liquid, clean the outside of each PF-2 water filter (first, leave on the blue caps)
• Remove the blue caps from both ends of the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride filters.
• Place the light brown rubber washer onto one end of the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride filters and make sure that the hole in the washer is precisely lined up with the hole in the PF-2 water filter.
• Push the washer onto a kitchen tap (press tightly to seal)
• Slowly open the cold water tap while pressing the washer against the tap, and let the water fill the Berkey PF-2 Fluoride filters, and then let it exit through the hole at the bottom. Allow the water to drain for at least 20 seconds, or until it is clear, whichever operation lasts the longest.
• Repeat this in the opposite direction: Turn over the PF-2 Water Filter and proceed with the process of preparing the water filter in the same way as before.
• Prepare each PF-2 Filter as described in steps 3 to 6.
• Screw the Fluoride filters onto your Berkey, on the ends of the Black Berkey Water Filter Elements
• Fill the upper reservoir of your Berkey Water filter with water and let it run through the filters. Repeat 10 x, so that you fill your Berkey completely 10 x, and let the water run through the filters. If you don’t do this, you’ll find a light white substance in the water. We advise you not to drink this.

Instructions for the installation of your Berkey PF-2 Fluoride Filters

• Remove the upper part of your Berkey Water Filter System
• Place the upper part of your Berkey Water Filter System upside down, so that the black water filter elements stick upwards
• Hold the PF-2 Filters so that the flow direction arrow points away from the tank, then screw them onto the stems of the Black Berkey elements (the PF-2 filters are only threaded on one side) with a max. of 8 turns.
  a) Do not turn more than 8 times, otherwise, the inside may be damaged,
  b) The arrow must point away from the tank.
• Place the upper tank onto the lower tank again (the PF-2 filters will now hang into the lower tank). Fill the upper tank with water and allow to drain into the lower one. Discard the first load when the lower tank is full, as there may be residual dust in it. The water purification system is now ready for use.

Note: In rare cases, the filling and draining operations must be repeated 5 times before the dust dissipates. If the dust does not dissipate after 5 flushes, please contact us so we may replace your item.
