Berkey Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Water Filter Elements
The Berkey Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Water Filter Elements are a powerful, reliable alternative now that the Black Berkey Elements are temporarily unavailable. These specially selected elements are designed for optimal compatibility and ease of use in your Berkey. The Berkey Phoenix elements are extremely effective, durable, and reliable, so you are always assured of clean drinking water.
Filters out unwanted and harmful substances
With the Berkey Phoenix elements, you can effortlessly remove unwanted and harmful substances from your drinking water while retaining essential minerals such as calcium and magnesium. These filter elements ensure the removal or reduction of, among other things:
- Harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, organic solvents, and cleaning agents
- Also reduces nitrites and (heavy) metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum, and cadmium
- PFOA & PFOS – ''Forever Chemicals”

Maintenance of the water filters
The lifespan of a set of Berkey Phoenix elements is 1 year. Most families see optimal performance when replacing the water filter elements annually, especially in water with high levels of lime, sediment, and heavily polluted water.
The elements work perfectly with all Berkey PF-2 Fluoride and Arsenic filter elements.
All advantages at a glance:
- Fully compatible with all Berkey water filters and most similar gravity filtration systems.
- Tested by: NABL, ISO 9000, and ISO 17025 accredited third-party laboratories according to EPA guidelines and ANSI/NSF protocols and standards.
- Affordable quality: only 110 euros per set.
Prepare your Berkey Phoenix filters for use
Priming the Phoenix elements is an important first step, both when using them for the first time and after prolonged storage. With the included PrimeEasy Universal Primer, this is quick and easy:
- Prepare: Make sure the faucet head and inside of the primer are dry for better grip and sealing.
- Attach: Pull the larger end of the primer over the tap and slide the filter element (stem) as far as possible into the primer.
- Turn on the water: Keep the primer on the tap and slowly turn on the cold water.
- Increase pressure slowly: Build up the water pressure gradually to prevent leaks or splashing.
- Saturate the filter: Wait until the element “sweats” on the outside, gently rub the outside for 1 minute and let the water run clear.
For detailed instructions on priming, please refer to the full instruction manual (PDF).

Additional information
- The Berkey Phoenix Gravity Water Filter Elements are not the same as the standard Phoenix Gravity carbon filter elements. Independent tests have confirmed that the Berkey Phoenix elements effectively reduce more than 100 additional contaminants on top of what the standard Phoenix carbon filters claim.
- It is important to emphasize the distinction in product naming, specifically “New Millennium Edition.” This version is produced exclusively for New Millennium Concepts, Ltd. (NMCL) and is now the only filter officially approved for use in Berkey Water Systems as a recognized alternative to the Black Berkey Elements (BB9-2).
- In contrast, Phoenix Gravity carbon filters are not approved by NMCL for use in Berkey Water Systems.
- Berkey Phoenix filters are designed to operate at a higher flow rate than Black Berkey filters. This higher flow rate remains well within the system's validated tolerance levels and does not affect the achievement of filtration standards.
