The Phoenix Gravity New Millennium Edition Water Filter Elements are the latest official Berkey water filters and are a powerful, reliable alternative now that the Black Berkey Elements are temporarily unavailable. Like their predecessors, these elements are extremely effective, durable, and reliable, so you are always assured of clean drinking water.

Filters out unwanted and harmful substances

With the Phoenix elements, you can effortlessly remove unwanted and harmful substances from your drinking water, while retaining essential minerals. These filters remove, among other things:

• Viruses, pathogenic bacteria, cysts, and parasites
• Harmful chemicals such as herbicides, pesticides, organic solvents, and cleaning agents
• Also reduces nitrites and metals such as lead, mercury, aluminum, and cadmium

Phoenix filters are independently certified according to NSF/ANSI/CAN 372 and NSF/ANSI 42, meaning they comply with international standards for drinking water quality. This ensures you are making a safe choice for yourself and your family.

Maintenance of the water filters

Each set of two Phoenix elements filters up to 20,800 liters of clean drinking water. If performance decreases over time, you can easily clean the outside with a scouring pad under running water (do not use cleaning agents!). For an even longer service life, you can also use Berkey BioFilm Water Purification Fluid to prevent algae growth.

The Phoenix elements work seamlessly with all Berkey water filters. They are also fully compatible with the Berkey PF-2® Fluoride & Arsenic filter elements.

Prepare your Phoenix filters for use

Priming the Phoenix elements is an important first step, both when using them for the first time and after prolonged storage. With the included PrimeEasy Universal Primer, this is quick and easy:

1. Preparation: Ensure that the tap head and the inside of the primer are dry for better grip and sealing.
2. Attach: Pull the larger end of the primer over the tap and slide the filter element (stem) as far as possible into the primer.
3. Turn on the water: Keep the primer on the tap and slowly turn on the cold water.
4. Slowly increase the pressure: Build up the water pressure slowly to prevent leaks or splashing.
5. Saturate the filter: Wait until the element “sweats” on the outside, gently rub the outside for 1 minute and let the water become clear.

Make your Berkey water purification system even more powerful with the PF-2 Fluoride & Arsenic filters. These additional filters tackle substances you would rather not find in your drinking water: fluoride, lead, arsenite and arsenate, heavy metal residues, pesticides, herbicides, DBCP (dibromo-chloropropane), THM (trihalomethanes).

The PF-2 filters always work in combination with the Berkey filter elements; the number of PF-2s must be equal to the number of Phoenix elements in your system. This ensures optimal filtration, even under the most challenging conditions. One set (2 pieces) of PF-2 filters lasts for approximately 3,785 liters or after approximately one year of use.
